Why did you choose this job?

Seeing a future with growth potential

I was a student when I flew on Peach for the first time, and it gave me the feeling that my world had suddenly gotten much bigger. I thought, “We live in an age where we can fly casually,” and I became interested in the airline industry. At the time, Peach was still a new company, but that was why I could see a future with the potential for growth. As I listened to the talks, I became particularly interested in the career-track positions. I was excited to learn that I would have the opportunity to be involved in a wide range of fields within the company, including public relations and dispatching, which is also referred to as “the pilots on the ground”.
During my training period, I did jobs such as counter work and ground work at airports on a rotating basis. With the counter work in particular, I gained confidence in my work by serving as the “face of the company” as I took care of issues customers had, even though it was still my first year as an employee. At the same time, it was an experience that made me realize that every action I took was reflected in the company’s brand.

Please describe your work and tell us about its appeals and challenges.

Valuing customers’ thoughts and feelings

I’m currently part of the Network & Area Strategy Planning Department, which plans the times, locations, and number of flights. Doing so requires communication and coordination with related departments within the company as well as securing space for aircraft parking and making sure that there are staff to guide the passengers. It takes a great deal of time and coordination just to fly one plane, so when I see the plane take off after all that effort, it kind of feels like I’m seeing off my own child.
When planning the flight schedules, we not only look at the previous year’s results and anticipated needs, but we also listen to our customers and try to provide what they ask for. I once took part in an aviation event for our customers, and I heard directly from one of them who said, “I always take this flight to visit my daughter who lives in the Kansai region.” We’re an airline that has close ties to the rural areas of Japan, and we’re supported by the customers who live there, so we place great value on what they have to say.

A place that supports the dreams of each and every person

Peach’s strength lies in its flexibility when it comes to increasing or decreasing the number of flights and developing new routes. A great deal of discretionary authority is entrusted to one person, which allows them to take drastic measures at their own discretion, such as increasing the number of flights during event periods. We recently took part in an international conference of airlines from around the world and succeeded in increasing the number of flights as a result of negotiations. As Peach grows to become a “bridge to Asia”, I’m glad that we were able to increase the number of international flights, as that will further contribute to our growth and bring more smiles to our customers’ faces.
Going forward, I want to widen the breadth of my knowledge and experience, including fields such as marketing and branding, and become a core driving force of the company. Perhaps it’s because I often express my feelings like this, but my boss is also very supportive in helping me in achieving my goals. Recently, at my boss’s suggestion, I was able to participate in a project that involved Public Relations and other departments, and that allowed me to take a step toward the future I’ve envisioned. This is a good example of how Peach listens to each person’s vision and gives them opportunities to take on challenges, which is part of the charm of Peach’s at-home atmosphere.

What are the things that are necessary for a Peach person?

The value of teamwork

The employees at Peach are warm and friendly, and they’re always willing to talk to me. It feels like we’re one big family. Whenever I have a problem or something I’m worried about with the work I’m doing, they’re always kind enough to offer advice. There’s a culture here of working together as a team to solve problems. I think that people who enjoy teamwork and achieving results are best suited for a career with Peach.

Favorite motto

It always seems impossible until it’s done.It always seems impossible until it’s done.

It feels like a dream come true to be working on the front lines of “flying” airplanes. This is definitely the result of continually taking on challenges without backing down, even when I was uneasy about it or it seemed impossible. Since I started working at Peach, I am constantly reminded of the importance of taking on challenges in everything I do.

A flight full of respect
